Anna Discovers Why Sharing Makes Toys Better
The Guarded Treasure

Anna bounced into the living room, her blonde hair swaying as she spotted her brother Max clutching his red action figure—Captain Comet. "Can I play with Captain Comet?" she asked, her blue eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"No way!" Max turned away, holding the toy close. "He's mine."
Anna tilted her head, watching him. Max had been playing alone all morning, making quiet swooshing sounds. Usually, he created big adventures with sound effects and jumps off the couch. Today felt different.
"But why is Captain Comet so special?" Anna asked, stepping closer. She'd always wondered what made that particular toy his favorite.
Max's grip tightened. "You wouldn't understand. You'd probably break him or play wrong."
Mr. Whiskers padded into the room, his orange fur glowing in the morning sunlight. He pounced on a stray toy car, batting it across the scattered cushions.
Anna knelt down, her white shirt crinkling as she petted the cat. An idea formed in her mind—the same way she'd solved mysteries around the neighborhood. Maybe if she understood why Max loved Captain Comet so much, she could figure out why he wouldn't share.
"Show me what makes him special," Anna suggested.
Max's face darkened. "Just leave me alone!" He stormed upstairs, taking Captain Comet with him.
