The Secret Door
— Star was building a new community center in Troll Town, hammering away with her favorite tool belt. She'd been working all morning when she noticed something strange behind the old brick wall. —
Wait a minute. [SHORT-PAUSE] Is that a doorknob?
— Star brushed away the dust and found a tiny painted door, no bigger than her hand, hidden in the corner. —
I've never seen this before! I wonder what's inside?
— She reached toward the handle, but it wouldn't budge. The door was locked tight. —
Oh no. I need to figure out how to open this. But maybe... maybe I shouldn't open it alone.
— Star thought about her best friend, Pebble, a small stone golem who loved solving puzzles. —
Pebble! Come quick! I found something amazing!
I'm here, Star! What did you find?
A secret door. [PAUSE] It's locked. Can you help me figure out how to open it?
A secret door? That sounds exciting! Let me see.
— Pebble examined the tiny lock carefully. Inside the keyhole, they could see something glimmering. —
Star, I think there's a key somewhere nearby. We just have to look.
— They searched around the wall, moving bricks and checking corners. Star found a rusty key half-buried in the dirt. —
Here it is! This must be it!
— With trembling hands, Star placed the key in the lock. It clicked. The door swung open. —
Oh my! [MEDIUM-PAUSE] Look what's inside!
— Behind the secret door was a tiny library, filled with picture books and stories. —
Someone left these here to be found.
We can bring these books to the new community center! Every troll child can read them. [SHORT-PAUSE] This secret door led us to something wonderful.
— Star and Pebble carefully carried the books to the community center. Star created a special reading corner, decorated with colorful drawings. The secret door's discovery had brought joy to everyone in town. And Star learned that sometimes the best treasures are meant to be shared with friends. —
