Grace Finds The Missing Golden Egg
The Stolen Spring Centerpiece
The morning air smelled of sweet bread and blooming daffodils as Grace sat on her grandmother's porch, carefully painting a wooden egg. Her chestnut-brown hair, held back by a simple golden headband, cascaded over her soft lavender tunic. Today was the Spring Festival, a tradition her grandmother always said welcomed the sun back to the earth. Grace's hazel eyes sparkled with anticipation. Suddenly, a frantic rustling erupted from the bushes. 'Oh, oh, oh! A disaster!' squeaked Pip, a frantic gray bunny who hopped in circles. Beside him, Hop and Bop tugged their long ears in dismay. 'The shiny egg! The crows took it!' Bop cried, his nose twitching wildly. Grace didn't hesitate. Brushing her paint-stained hands on her woven belt, she vaulted over the low garden wall, her sturdy brown leather boots landing softly in the damp grass. Above them, a chorus of harsh caws echoed as a dark cloud of crows flew toward the ancient forest, carrying a brilliantly gleaming golden egg in their talons. The festival's centerpiece was gone, and the cheerful village morning instantly turned into a frantic, fearful scramble.
