The Hidden Treasure of Friendship
Chapter 1: The Missing Friends

Flufalo knelt in the community garden, gently patting soil around a row of seedlings. The lavender feathers behind their ears fluttered in the warm breeze as they worked. Excited voices drifted across the meadow.
"The Great Treasure Hunt starts tomorrow!" someone called.
Flufalo looked up to see a group gathering near the old oak tree. They wiped their paws on their gardening apron and smiled. A treasure hunt sounded wonderful.
But then Flufalo noticed something that made their chest feel tight. Sitting alone by the garden gate was Petal, a shy rabbit. Near the pond, Cricket the turtle sat by himself, drawing circles in the dirt with one claw. And under the willow tree, Dewdrop the mouse stared at the excited group with sad eyes.
Flufalo walked over to Petal first. "Aren't you joining the treasure hunt?"
Petal's ears drooped. "They said it's only for fast runners. I'm too slow."
Flufalo's heart sank. They visited Cricket next, who whispered, "I can't climb trees to find clues."
Dewdrop simply shook her head. "I'm too small. Nobody picked me for their team."
Flufalo touched the woven grass bracelet on their wrist—a gift from a friend who'd once felt left out too. They knew this feeling of loneliness.
Then Moss the hedgehog scurried over, quills trembling. "Flufalo! The treasure hunt leaders said there's only room for twelve players. They're turning more friends away!"
