Stefany and the Two Robots Want the Same Toy
The Last Sparkly Ball
Stefany smoothed her blue sequin dress as she walked through the playground, her golden hair catching the afternoon sunlight. She was heading to the sandbox where her two robot friends always played. Beep-Bop was a small silver robot who spoke in musical chimes, while Whirr-Click was taller and copper-colored, always clicking his gears when excited. Today, the toy cart had arrived with new playground toys.
"MINE!" both robots shouted at once.
Stefany hurried over. Both robots gripped the same sparkly rainbow ball—the last one in the cart. Beep-Bop's lights flashed red. "I-saw-it-first!" he chimed rapidly. Whirr-Click's gears clicked faster and faster. "My-sensors-detected-it-first!" he buzzed. Neither would let go. The ball stretched between them.
"Friends," Stefany said gently, her bright blue eyes moving from one robot to the other. But they weren't listening. Beep-Bop pulled left. Whirr-Click yanked right. Other children gathered around, watching the tug-of-war. The peaceful playground had turned into a battlefield.
