Luna's Toy Swap Treasure Hunt
The Empty Belt
Luna floated through the attic wall, her ethereal white hair drifting around her head like smoke. She reached for her button belt—the string that held her most prized possessions—and froze. Empty. Every single button, gone.
"Milo!" She shot through three floors, her tattered dress streaming behind her, and found her little brother building a block tower in the living room.
He didn't look up. "You never let me play with anything."
"Where are my buttons?" Luna's spectral eyes flared bright blue.
Milo stacked another block with deliberate slowness. "Hidden. All over the house. You want them back? You gotta trade me toys I actually want to play with." He pulled a crumpled list from his pocket. "I made a list and everything. Each button needs a different toy."
Luna lunged forward, trying to grab the paper, but her ghostly fingers passed right through it. Milo grinned.
"The blue glass button from the bridge," Luna whispered. That one she'd found the day before—before—everything changed. Her most precious one.
"Yep. That one's gonna cost you the remote-control car. The one you never let me touch." Milo's eyes sparkled with victory. "Good luck finding it though. I hid that button real good."
