The Clockmaker's Lost Button Collection
Chapter 1: The Mysterious Map

Luna floated through the village square, her wispy white hair drifting around her head like morning mist. Her glowing blue eyes scanned every corner, searching for the glint of buttons. She'd found three already today—a brass one near the fountain, a pearl one by the bakery, and a wooden one that she'd plucked right through a shop window. Her string belt jingled softly with her growing collection.
"Wait! Ghost girl!" A boy with messy brown hair and freckles sprinted toward her, waving a yellowed piece of paper. "You're Luna, right? The button collector?"
Luna tilted forward eagerly. "That's me! Do you have buttons?"
"Better! I'm Jasper. My grandfather was the village clockmaker, and he left me this map to his legendary button collection—hundreds of rare buttons hidden all over the village!" He spread the paper between them. "But there's a problem. See these numbers by each location? 8:00, 12:30, 3:45, 6:15?"
Luna peered at the strange symbols beside drawings of the train station, library, marketplace, and clockmaker's shop. "What do they mean?"
"They're times—specific hours when we can find the buttons. Grandfather loved puzzles. But I don't really understand how to read clock faces yet, and—" Jasper's face fell. "The map says we only have until sunset tomorrow, or the magic hiding the buttons will fade forever."
Luna grabbed his sleeve, her translucent fingers passing slightly through the fabric. "Then let's start now!"
"That's the problem," Jasper said, pointing at the darkening sky. "The first location is the train station at 8:00, but I don't know if that means morning or night, and the trains run on strict schedules. If we miss the right time, we might never find it."
