The Sun on the Run

Star adjusted the bright yellow hard hat on her head, her rainbow-colored hair bouncing with each small movement. In her workshop, nestled deep in Troll Valley, she was sketching a blueprint for a twisty-slide playground. Pencils and rulers were scattered around her. This was her happy place. “Time for our trip to Glimmering Grotto!” her dad called. Star tucked her plans into her backpack and climbed into the family’s rock-wheeled car. As they rumbled along the road, she stared out the window. A tall green tree zipped by. Then, the bright yellow sun peeked through. Another tree. The sun again. It was following them! The sun was supposed to stay in one spot in the sky, not chase their car! Star’s large, sparkling eyes widened. This was a building problem. The sun was out of place. It needed to be put back. She gripped the toy ruler in her tool belt. The trip to the grotto was forgotten; she had a much bigger project now.
