The Golden Key and the Backward Sun

Luna lived for the chase. A flash of yellow, a flutter of wings, and her world narrowed to a single, joyful purpose: catch the butterfly. Her paws thumped a happy rhythm on the cobblestones of the town square, the little silver bell on her red collar jingling with every bound. Above her, the Great Clock Tower stood silent guard, its hands pointing to noon. Suddenly, the butterfly dipped low, landing near the tower's stone base. Luna, in an enthusiastic pounce, overshot her target and nudged a loose stone with her nose. It tumbled away, revealing a dark hollow. Inside, something gleamed. It was a small, golden key, intricately carved. Luna’s mischievous side took over. She had seen a tiny, almost invisible keyhole on a small door at the tower’s base before. Driven by curiosity, she picked up the key in her mouth and nudged its tip into the lock. With a soft *click*, the small door swung inward. A low rumble vibrated up from the ground, through her paws. Luna looked up. The giant hands of the clock shuddered. The long minute hand twitched, then began to move… backward. One tick at a time, then faster. The sun, which had been directly overhead, seemed to slide back across the sky toward the east. A confused murmur rose from the townspeople. The world had just tilted, and Luna was the one who had knocked it over.
