Farhan Counts The Brave Sleeping Dragons

Farhan adjusted the bronze compass pendant around his neck, feeling just like the heroes in his favorite bedtime stories. His cobalt blue tunic swished as he leaped off a mossy rock. "I will protect the village!" he cheered. Suddenly, his friend Mira ran up, out of breath. "Farhan! The cave rumbles! We need to know how many dragons are inside before they wake up for lunch!" Farhan's dark brown eyes widened. His parents always said true strength meant helping friends in need. He nodded bravely. Farhan tiptoed away from the sunny village and stepped into the damp, echoing darkness of the Dragon Cave. A loud, rumbling snore shook the ground beneath his soft brown leather sandals.
