The Silver Flicker

Luna floated by the sill of a ruined stone tower, her string belt clinking softly in the quiet night. The pale moonlight filtered through her tattered dress made of shimmering white fabric, casting no shadow on the mossy floor. She tilted her slight, almost weightless build forward, tracing the smooth edges of a brass button she had found that morning. The forest outside was a sea of quiet shadows, breathing in a slow, rhythmic slumber. Luna loved this silent hour, where the world felt like a secret waiting to be discovered. Suddenly, a flicker of iridescent silver caught the soft, blue light of her large spectral eyes. A glowing moon moth, its wings dusted with starlight, fluttered just beyond the crumbling stone window. Luna gasped, her button-like nose pressing against the cool night air. The moth spun in a lazy circle, illuminating the dark leaves with a soft, pulsing halo, before drifting toward the dense, uncharted woods. Luna did not hesitate. Forgetting the quiet peace of the tower, she launched herself out of the window, diving headfirst into the canopy of shadows. Her wispy, ethereal white hair trailed behind her like a cloud as she plunged into the dark, tangled forest, leaving the safety of her stone sanctuary far behind.
