Star Builds a Bridge for the Lost Princess
Chapter 1: The Cry from the Mist
Star hummed a cheerful tune as she skipped along the eastern path, her rainbow hair bouncing with each step. Her backpack jingled with interesting rocks and crystals she'd collected that morning. The Misty Ravine stretched before her, its walls glittering with embedded gems.
"Help! Someone please help me!"
Star's purple and blue eyes widened. She rushed to the ravine's edge and peered through the swirling fog. Across the deep canyon, a figure shimmered—a fairy princess with silver hair and moonlight-colored gown.
"I'm Princess Elara!" the fairy called, her voice trembling. "The old bridge collapsed behind me. I need to get home before sunset, or the mist will trap me here forever!"
Star adjusted her yellow hard hat and studied the gap. Too wide to jump. Too deep to climb down. She pulled out her toy ruler, measuring with her eyes. "Don't worry! I'll build you a bridge!"
"A bridge?" Elara's wings drooped. "But you're just a little troll girl. That's impossible!"
Star's small tusks showed as she grinned. "I built the stone garden at Troll Academy. This'll be even better!" She opened her backpack, dumping out her supplies. Three rocks, two sticks, and a handful of sparkly pebbles scattered at her feet.
Her smile faltered. The ravine stretched fifty feet across.
This would take more than pebbles.
