Moonlight Meadow Mystery

Ella pressed her fluffy white ear against the shimmering communication crystal in the center of Moonlight Meadow's underground warren. Nothing. Not even a whisper from the neighboring burrows that usually chattered away until dawn.

"The crystal's completely quiet," Ella announced to the circle of worried bunny faces around her. Her black eyes sparkled with curiosity rather than fear. "When did it stop working exactly?"

Old Benjamin, the warren's eldest rabbit, twitched his gray whiskers nervously. "Right after the strange purple lights appeared in the meadow last night. Now we can't reach the Hill Warren, the Forest Colony, or anyone else."

Ella's heart raced with excitement instead of worry. A real mystery! She touched the gold chain around her neck, feeling the familiar weight of her red heart pendant and rainbow ribbon. "Has anyone gone up to investigate the meadow yet?"

"Too dangerous," Benjamin said firmly. "We don't know what those lights were. Best to stay underground until the communication returns."

But Ella was already heading toward the tunnel entrance, her compact frame moving with purpose. "Staying underground won't solve anything," she called back. "If we want answers, someone has to go look!"

"Ella, wait!" Benjamin's voice echoed through the tunnel. "The meadow might not be safe anymore!"

Ella paused at the tunnel mouth, moonlight streaming down and illuminating her pristine white fur. Above ground, she could see strange silver objects scattered across their usually peaceful meadow, glinting ominously in the darkness.
