Luna's Frozen Labyrinth of Lost Sled Dogs
Chapter 1: The Echo of Howls

Luna bounded through the fresh snow, her red collar jingling with each enthusiastic leap. The Northern Ridge stretched before her like a frozen crown, its ice formations sparkling under the dancing northern lights. She'd been exploring these unfamiliar trails for three days now, and every discovery filled her with joy.
Then she heard it—a chorus of desperate howls echoing from somewhere deep within the mountain.
Luna's ears perked forward, and she followed the sound to a massive wall of ice and snow. Her heterochromatic eyes widened as she realized what she was seeing. An avalanche had completely sealed the entrance to the Crystalline Ice Caves. The howls were coming from inside.
"Hello?" Luna barked, pressing her nose against the icy barrier. "Can you hear me?"
"Help us!" came a muffled voice from within. "We're trapped! The avalanche blocked all the exits!"
Luna's tail stopped wagging. She began digging frantically at the snow, her paws working furiously. But for every pawful she removed, more snow tumbled down to replace it. The barrier was at least twenty feet thick.
"How many of you are there?" Luna called out.
"Twelve of us," the voice replied, weaker now. "We were delivering supplies to the northern settlement when the mountain came down. We've been trapped for two days. Our food is almost gone."
Luna stepped back, her mind racing. She couldn't dig through this much snow—it would take days, maybe weeks. And the trapped dogs didn't have that kind of time. She needed to think differently, to be creative.
She remembered something her mother once told her: "When you can't go through something, Luna, look for another way around."
Luna began circling the avalanche site, searching the ridge face for any other opening into the caves. Finally, she spotted it—a small crevice about fifty yards away, barely wide enough for her to squeeze through.
But as Luna approached the narrow entrance, she heard a deep, ominous crack echo through the ice. The entire cave system was unstable. One wrong move, and she might trigger another avalanche, sealing the dogs' fate forever.
