The Rattling Bottle

Pink snow drifted over the cobblestone streets of Brightville, a perfectly normal Tuesday. Luna Wolfeschlegelsteinhausenbergerdorff trotted through the town square, her bushy tail wagging in a steady rhythm. At two feet tall, she easily ducked under the baker's cart, her right blue eye and left amber eye scanning the ground for dropped pastries. She nudged a shiny gum wrapper with her short, upturned snout, but it wasn't food. Just trash, she thought, though she stuffed it into her iridescent mini backpack anyway. Suddenly, a glint of emerald green caught her attention near the fountain. She pounced, her plush white and grey fur ruffling in the wind. It was a glass bottle, corked tight, rattling with a hollow clack-clack. Luna bit the cork, yanked it free, and spat it out. A rolled-up parchment slid onto the stones. It smelled of sugar and sea salt. She pressed her paw on the curling paper. 'Where the glitter-moss grows and the shadow falls, seek the Candy Pirate's rainbow lollipops,' it read, etched in shimmering gold ink. Rainbow lollipops! Her ears perked up. The pink snow swirled faster. Luna shoved the map into her backpack. The hunt was on.
